Rockwall, TX-May 11, 2025 – On May 13, 2025, at 2 PM, the Rockwall County Commissioners Court will hold a workshop at the Historic Courthouse to discuss the remodeling project for the Sheriff’s Office. This meeting is open to the public, and attendees are welcome to address the court with their comments.

The remodel will be funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), meaning the county will not need to rely on financing, bonds, or tax increases to complete the project. County Commissioner John Stacy stated, “The growth of this county is evident all around us. It is essential to have the public safety infrastructure in place. This project has been a long time coming, and there is genuine excitement throughout the county as we begin this remodel to provide our deputies with the space they need to keep us safe.”

Sheriff Terry Garrett added, “The Sheriff’s Office recently completed a necessary jail housing expansion, which left the county with unused space that can be repurposed for operational offices and evidence storage. This project will allow for expansion and improvements within our current building footprint, making it a more cost-effective option compared to constructing a new building.”

The County is teaming with Broaddus and Associates to provide representation through all phases of planning, design, and construction to ensure quality project delivery.
