Rockwall, TX – April 24, 2025 – The Rockwall City Council has approved a temporary reduction in speed limits along the eastbound and westbound frontage roads of Interstate 30 within the Rockwall city limits. This change comes as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) continues extensive reconstruction efforts along the I-30 corridor.
For the safety of drivers, construction crews, and the traveling public, the speed limit on the frontage roads will be reduced to 35 miles per hour. This temporary speed limit will begin shortly and remain in place for the duration of the active construction period. Once TxDOT and the City determine that construction has progressed to a point where it is safe to reinstate the higher speed limit, the original 45 mph speed limit will be restored, and appropriate signage will be reinstalled.
Drivers traveling through the area are encouraged to use caution, watch for construction workers and equipment, and adhere to posted signage for the safety of everyone.
