Rockwall, TX — On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, members and volunteers from the Children’s Advocacy Center for Rockwall County, Lone Star CASA, EMPOWER, the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), and The Rainbow Room gathered at the Rockwall County Courthouse to receive a proclamation from the Rockwall County Commissioners Court recognizing their efforts in the prevention of child abuse.
The proclamation declares April 2025 as National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month in Rockwall County and highlights the ongoing commitment of local organizations, volunteers, and advocates working to support families and protect children before crises occur.
“Child abuse prevention cannot be tasked to one community, agency, or system,” the proclamation states. “Behind many families that succeeded is a strong community that provided a way for the family to become self-sufficient, stable, and thrive.”
Judge Frank New, along with Commissioners Bobby Goforth (Pct. 1), Dana Macalik (Pct. 2), Lorne Liechty (Pct. 3), and John Stacy (Pct. 4), signed the official proclamation, urging all citizens to join in a national effort to raise awareness and help prevent child abuse and neglect.
Local organizations present at the event play vital roles in this work, offering everything from advocacy and mentorship to support services and essential supplies for children in need.
