Rockwall, TX-Apr. 21, 2025 – Precinct 3 County Commissioner Lorne Liechty hosted a public town hall forum to discuss the proposed Outer Loop and its potential impact on Rockwall County. Attendees included State Representative Katrina Pierson, County Judge Frank New, Precinct 4 County Commissioner John Stacy, and other county and city elected officials.
The Rockwall County Outer Loop is a significant infrastructure project aimed at enhancing north/south mobility, accommodating future growth, and connecting our communities.

The road is currently projected to extend over 14 miles through the eastern portion of Rockwall County from Collin County to the north to Kaufman County to the south.
Liechty provided the standing-room-only crowd with an overview of the origins of the Outer Loop, the proposed routes through the county, and the status of the project. He outlined how the Court has been addressing concerns raised during recent meetings of the Commissioners Court and the Road Consortium. The Court is collaborating with the infrastructure consulting firm Halff, the North Central Texas Council of Governments Regional Transportation Council, Innovative Transportation Solutions, and the Texas Department of Transportation as they determine a preferred route for the Outer Loop

To conclude the forum, Liechty addressed questions from citizens and reaffirmed his commitment to the goals outlined in the recently adopted Rockwall County Strategic Plan. This plan aims to maintain a safe, low-density, thriving, family-friendly community that serves as a sanctuary from the urban sprawl of the North Texas region.
Commissioner Liechty said he welcomes feedback from his Precinct 3 constituents and intends to continue public town hall forums as situations warrant.
