ROWLETT, Texas — The City of Rowlett invites everyone to a Groundbreaking Celebration for the city’s future Municipal Complex, a transformative project that will centralize key city services in one accessible, efficient and inspiring location.
The event will take place Saturday, April 26, at Herfurth Park, beginning at 11 a.m., with the official groundbreaking ceremony at noon. This free, family-friendly celebration will include live music, food trucks, face painting, community giveaways, and a commemorative keepsake coin for the first 300 attendees.
“This is the largest capital investment in our city’s history and it represents a promise to the people of Rowlett,” said Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Winget. “We’re building more than just a facility; we’re building a legacy that reflects the spirit and pride of this community.”
The new Municipal Complex will unify City Hall, public safety administration, the animal shelter and park amenities at Herfurth Park, all designed to better serve both current residents and future generations.
Project partners participating in the event include design firm Hoefer Welker, construction firm Swinerton, and engineering teams from Lamb-Star, Terracon and SAM — each playing a vital role in advancing the project.
“We are grateful to the City of Rowlett for the opportunity to positively impact the community with these new facilities,” said Traci Petersen, project executive at Swinerton. “We look forward to being good neighbors during the process and making Rowlett our home.”
“This marks a major step forward in our plans to bring a state-of-the-art municipal complex to Rowlett,” added James Beers, AIA, NCARB, principal at Hoefer Welker. “We’re proud to work alongside the city and our project partners to create a space that will better serve the community for years to come.”
The project was made possible through voter approval of the 2023 bond election, as well as the work of the Community Investment Program Task Force, whose members volunteered their time and expertise to help shape Rowlett’s future.
The City of Rowlett invites everyone to join this exciting milestone as the community comes together to celebrate the future of public service, access and civic pride.
