Royse City, TX – February 25, 2025 – The City of Royse City has officially canceled the upcoming May 3, 2025, election after the candidates for various positions were confirmed as unopposed. As a result, the candidates will be sworn in during a ceremony on May 13, 2025.
The following candidates have been certified as unopposed and will take office as indicated:
- Janet Nichol – Mayor
- Michael Holder – Council Member, Place 1
- Russell Summers – Council Member, Place 3
- James Branch – Council Member, Place 5
In accordance with Section 2.053(a) of the Texas Election Code, no election will be held as the above-mentioned candidates were the only ones to file for the respective offices. A copy of this order will be posted at each polling location on Election Day, May 3, 2025.
The swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected officials will take place on May 13, 2025.
