Rockwall, TX-Nov. 1, 2024 – The “Thank A Veteran” Program aims to show appreciation to veterans who have served in the armed forces. It is open to all military branches and allows service members to receive discounts from participating merchants.
To be eligible for the discounts, veterans must present the “Thank a Veteran” ID card issued by the County Clerk. This ID card is provided free of charge after the veteran submits their DD-214 separation papers to the County Clerk’s Office. Both the filing and the ID card issuance are free of charge to veterans. The DD-214 papers are non-public records, securely kept at the County Clerk’s office, and are only accessible to the veteran and their immediate family.
Captain Brent Erickson, United States Marine, Retired, was the first recipient of a “Thank A Veteran” ID card from County Clerk Jennifer Fogg.
The “Thank a Veteran” ID card offers valuable benefits from Rockwall County businesses that have committed to honoring the card by providing discounts on purchases and services. Participating merchants are listed on the County Clerk’s webpage.
