Help Bring Back Hot Meals to Our Seniors

Do you enjoy a hot, nutritious meal served with love? So do they.

Do you like being part of a community and welcomed with a smile? So do they.

Do you want to feel purposeful and needed? So do they. Like you, the seniors and disabled residents of Rockwall County crave community, independence, purpose, and dignity.

Meals on Wheels Senior Services (MOWSS) is dedicated to ensuring that our clients are never forgotten, and their needs are always met. Our dedicated volunteers, ranging from teenagers to active seniors, work tirelessly to bring joy and nourishment through Thursday meal deliveries, Sunshine Snack Mondays, Ani-meal deliveries, companion visits from Allan, and support from our Weekend Warrior teams.

We are excited to announce a CAPITAL CAMPAIGN to build a HUB for the Rockwall community, focusing on our seniors and disabled clients. This will be a Senior LIFE Center equipped with a commercial kitchen to prepare hot meals for homebound clients and serve our active seniors and caregivers in a spacious, welcoming congregate center. This facility will also serve as a central resource for activities, lectures, and supportive services, where everyone is WELCOME TO THE TABLE.

Currently, we take pride in our prompt intake, assessment, and service of clients, with no waiting list. As the demand for supportive services grows, this new facility is essential to keep up with the increasing need. To maintain food costs, we currently contract with a food provider from Tarrant County to deliver five fresh-to-frozen meals weekly. While this meets nutritional needs, we know it can be better.

This new building will allow us to buy and store food in bulk and prepare hot meals daily, restoring our delivery schedule to five days a week. This is what our clients deserve, and what MOWSS is striving to achieve. Our meal delivery service is about more than just the meal; it’s about consistent human contact, ensuring the well-being of our clients, and allowing our volunteers to address any additional needs.

Have you ever considered what a facility like this could do for Rockwall County’s seniors and disabled citizens?

We have. It’s more than a meal. Will you help us make this a reality?
