Wilboun Richard Wiecker, age 85, of Rosebud, TX, passed away September 12, 2022 in Rockwall, TX. He was born July 9, 1937, in Rosenberg, TX, to Olga (Rathke) and John Henry Wiecker.
Wilboun is survived by his loving wife: Diann Wiecker; sons: Ronnie Wiecker and wife Heidi of The Woodlands, TX, Ricky Wiecker and wife Lauren of Sugarland, TX, and Randy Wiecker and wife Melissa of Heath, TX; and grandchildren: Shelby Jenks and husband Aaron, Allison Wiecker, Seth Wiecker, Claire Wiecker, Abby Wiecker, and Katelyn Wiecker. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Olga Wiecker.
After graduating from Needville High School in 1955, he completed two years of education at Wharton County Community College where he earned his associates degree. He then worked at Baroid Industrial Drilling for three years as a welder. During that time, he met Beverly Diann Hooper through his best friend Wayne Schroeder and were wed shortly thereafter on June 23, 1962, at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Houston, TX. He transitioned to farming alongside his father John Henry Wiecker. Also, during that time, he enlisted in the Air National Guard of Texas in 1958 and was honorably discharged after 6 years of service in October 1964 where he worked as a machinist. He also served as president of the regional office of the Fort Bend County Farm Bureau in which he had many responsibilities including organizing and judging beauty contests for young women whose families actively engaged in farming or ranching.
In 1976, Wilboun moved his family to the Rosebud farm where he farmed and ranched until 1991 when he retired. In 2014 they sold the family farm and moved to Magnolia, TX to be closer to their grandchildren and two sons.
During his life, he was a faithful servant to the Lutheran Church serving in many different positions. He attended Peace Lutheran Church in Rosenberg, TX followed by Salem Lutheran Church in Rosebud, TX and finally Immanuel Lutheran Church in Temple, TX.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed water skiing and even hand built two wooden boats. He also hand built garden tractors and riding lawnmowers in his free time. He was also an avid fan of watching his three sons play baseball, football, and tennis and many other activities. After retirement from farming, Wilboun enjoyed designing and building metalwork art and furniture that he sold at trade shows throughout the state.
Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, a loving father to three sons, and “Grandpa and Papa” to six beautiful grandchildren who adored him and will miss him.
Funeral services will be 10:00am Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall location. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery-Lavon, TX. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at The Gathering at Rest haven Funeral Home-Rockwall location.
