Tomme Lou (Colbert) Newman, 54, of Greenville, Texas, passed from this life on September 27, 2022. Tomme was born on November 17, 1967, to Thomas Lee Colbert and Betty Lou (Brey) Colbert, in Dallas, Texas. Tomme had a big heart and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was loved by so many and served in many roles including Mom, Grandma, (Nonni) Sister, and Friend. She participated in women’s group activities at Cross Country Cowboy Church in Sulphur Springs Texas and would often volunteer for play days. She worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas for 20 years before her retirement last September. Tomme had a real love and talent for crocheting and made blankets and other keepsakes for her family and friends regularly. Tomme was loved by so many and she was even referred to as a second mother to some. She made it a point to tell the ones she loved that she did. After every phone call, no matter the circumstance, she would always hang up with an “I love you.” She was always quick to share her excitement about her Savior Jesus Christ. We remember her excitement and testimony and take joy in knowing that she is no longer in pain. She no longer has to bear the burdens so often carried by us here on earth. Knowing her great love of family, we find joy in knowing she left this world to be welcomed home by her mother, father, and sister in heaven and that she is in good good hands now.
Tomme is survived by her daughters: Heather Johnson, Adrianna Deighan and husband Gary, Alicia Gornto and husband Ryan; grandchildren: Payton, Kaden, Aubry, Mae, Khloe, Jake, Breylee; siblings: Deborah Lumsden, Butch Colbert and wife Becky, Kathy Jones and husband Mike; and a host of friends and loved ones who will all miss her dearly.
A memorial service to celebrate Tomme’s life is to be held 1:00pm Friday, September 30, 2022, in the Reflections Chapel at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall location.
