On September 13, 2022, John Paul Wilkins completed his mission here on Earth, lifted his arms, and Jesus Christ took him home.
John was a loving and caring husband for 64 years to Shirley. He was an amazing father to their children, and was always there for the family, providing for their needs. Through the years, John always put his family first and remained faithful, and encouraging, in all the trials that came their way. He was their rock, and will be missed dearly. John will remain in Shirley’s heart.
John was a father of great strength. He taught his children to be strong, courageous, and to overcome any obstacle that came their way. He was firm in his words and loyal in his love for the family. He raised a home of love, laughter, joy, and most importantly, Godly standards. He challenged us all to love unconditionally. He gave his family roots that remain deeply planted, a spiritual legacy and the stubbornness that makes us all mighty warriors for Jesus Christ.
John is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Ann (Cade) Wilkins; children: Debra Smith, Kimberly Ferguson, John Wilkins and wife Gina; grandchildren: Ashley, Alex, Addison, Amanda, Shane, Ty, Cody; great-grandchildren: Dylan, Caiden, Gray, Kenzie, Ryleigh, Cole, Brayden, Lucas, Leighton, Ily, Eisley, Elijah, Luke; great-great-grandson, Jax; brothers: Danny Wilkins and wife Brenda, David Wilkins and wife Donna. John was preceded in death by his parents, Furman and Mary Wilkins; grandson: Ronald Aaron Smith; and brother: Larry Wilkins. All who are left to treasure his memory will miss him dearly.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM in Kemp Cemetery, Kemp, Texas, with Brother Gary Coleman officiating.
