Robert Allen Hewitt, a 19-year resident of Rockwall, TX, passed away September 6, 2022, at the age of 82. He was born August 28, 1940, to Vera Stone Hewitt and Charles Hewitt, who preceded him in death, along with his brothers John and Larry. He grew up in Borger, TX, where he graduated high school in 1958. He attended Frank Phillips College in Borger, before leaving with nothing but his car to the University of Texas, where he acquired a job at the Texas School for The Deaf as a Resident Assistant. He graduated in 1964 from University of Texas with a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry. Three months later, he married the girl next door to his grandmother, Sandra Welborn. He then worked as a chemical engineer at Texas Utilities for 35 years.
Robert (Bob) was a life-long animal lover who rescued many animals, including cats, dogs, and even a heron with a broken wing. He enjoyed fishing and hiking in Colorado. Bob was always a handy-man, constantly with a project at home or helping others in need. Later in life, his focus shifted to playing with his grandkids.
Robert is survived by his wife of 58 years Sandra Welborn Hewitt, his daughter Kristen Hewitt Pierce, and his granddaughters, Claudia Pierce and Olivia Pierce.
