Vicki Kay Miller Medlin, 74, of Garland, TX, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, July 17, 2022. She entered the world on December 25, 1947 in Oklahoma City, OK and was the sweetest Christmas gift her parents, ID and Marti (Tyree) Miller, would ever receive. Her father’s job with the FAA took their family to various places before they settled again in Oklahoma City, where Vicki finished high school at Northwest Classen High School in 1966. The Miller Clan was Okie through and through, and their best times were spent camping at the lake with nine other families they called the “Happy Campers”. Boating, fishing, water-skiing and crazy antics were all part of the fun, and the families forged such tight bonds, that the “kids” have remained the closest of friends to this day.

Before Vicki graduated from high school, she also completed all the required coursework to become a licensed Cosmetologist. After a year of college at Oklahoma State University, she decided to pursue this career full-time and worked successfully in four states until she retired in 1999. Vicki was a highly skilled hair stylist, but through the course of her career, she also became a marriage and family counselor, a life coach, and a medical advisor to her many clients who also valued her as a dear and trusted friend.

In 1970, Vicki met and married the love of her life, Bob Medlin. They were married for forty years before Bob passed away in 2010. Together, they lived in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas and raised two wonderful children, Tamison Jo (Tami) and John Tyree (Ty). Vicki and Bob served faithfully for twenty-five years at Lake Ridge Bible Church where they made many dear friends.

Vicki was a vibrant, loving and passionate woman. She was wise and full of grit; always the brave warrior as she took on a 30-year battle with cancer. To Vicki, family, combined with her love for Jesus, was everything. She will always be remembered for her treasured stories and for making special memories for all the lives she touched.

Vicki is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Medlin; her parents, Irl D. and Marti Miller; her brother, Randy Miller; and her nephew, Jeff Miller. She is survived by her daughter, Tami Medlin and her husband, Michael of Mesquite, TX; her son, Ty Medlin and his wife, Rosanne, along with her beloved grandchildren Aubrie and Blake all of Grapevine, TX; her sister and brother-in-law, Jacki and Jim Hall of Owasso, OK; her brother, Gary Miller of Oklahoma City, OK; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Minnie and Jerry Williams of Marlow, OK; her nephews, Gary Cavin (Lynn); Dustin Rhea (Rebecca) of Tulsa, OK; Nathan Rhea (Samantha) of Tulsa, OK; her nieces, Pam Metscher (Don) of Yukon, OK; Lori Martin (Walter) of Cypress, TX; DeShane Williams of Eaton, CO; and a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and devoted friends.

A Memorial Service will be held for Vicki on Saturday, August 13 at 1:00 PM at Lake Ridge Bible Church, 1020 Northwest Dr., Mesquite, TX, 75150 and will be officiated by Dr. Roger Raymer.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made in Vicki’s name to Say Yes to Hope Foundation at www.sayyestohope.org or mailed to Say Yes to Hope, 791 Arnold Paul Rd, Canton, TX 75103.
