Kristian Anton Ruth “Kris” was the only child born to Marcus Gerrod Ruth and Ava Cassandra Ruth on February 22, 1990, at Evans Army Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was baptized at the age of 9 at Greater Missionary C.O.G.I.C. in Fort Worth, Texas. Kris faithfully served the church, even at a young age. Kris loved the Lord and his family very deeply. He went quietly to be with his Savior on May 6, 2022, at the age of 32.
Kris attended Rowlett High School, playing football and making many lifelong friends. He graduated in 2008. He was a hard worker, charming his customers at various restaurants in Texas, New York, and New Jersey. He worked with his father, Marcus, at the family business, Dent Guy, in Dallas, Texas. He worked as an intern for an IT company, unit 221B, while in school. Kris pursued his love of technology, taking online courses at Full Sail University, located in Winter Park, Florida. He was excited to be graduating this month of May 2022.
A world-class traveler, Kris’ journeys took him across the states and the globe. He spearfished in Bridgetown, Barbados, then stretched out in the hammocks at Backyard Beach. He bathed and fed elephants in Phuket, Thailand, then rode a scooter down the crowded streets of Krabi while sight-seeing, snorkeling, kayaking and enjoying fresh coconuts on Koh Poda Island . He hiked the jungle of Sra Morakot, afterwards bathing in the cool, clear waters of the emerald pool. Kris sat with the big Buddha in Lantau, Hong Kong, staying afterward at the Silk West Hotel in Kowloon. He shared that this is where he went to “focus and release.” He marveled at the Rosedale Hotel, saying it is a “must-see” for everyone. He dined in exotic Singapore. His most recent trip was a family reunion in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, where he relaxed at the family’s beach-side villa. Kris posted this sage advice on social media: buy a ticket to somewhere, get a tan, fall in love and enjoy your life.
His state-side travels lead Kris to Geno’s in Philadelphia for cheese steaks. He flew to Las Vegas with his family. Kris went to Albuquerque with his travel club, and to the north shore of Miami Beach, where he rode a speedboat. He went to Boston to meet friends for chowder. He attended a family gala in Nashville, savoring great food and bonding with family. Kris lived in and explored New York City, Jersey City, and the greater Dallas area. It was Dallas, ultimately, that was his home and haven, where he enjoyed such hobbies as grilling, fishing, camping, gaming, and playing with his dog, Nala.
He is survived by his mother, Ava Ruth Gunn (Brandon), father, Marcus Ruth (Grace), sisters, Sharon Dunn (Thomas), Charlotte Miller, and Chiquita Miller (Don), great aunts, Susie l. Lightner, and Gwedolyn E. Thomas, aunts, Yava Scott, Tammika Williams (Maxwell), Anna Williams, great uncle, Calvin Pearson Sr., uncles, James Hopkins, Carl Ruth (Shila), and Michael Ruth, loving nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and friends.
