Sammie J. Adams, age 77, of Rockwall, TX, went home to join our Lord and Savior on April 22, 2022. Sammie was born June 17, 1944, to Ray and Thelma Fletcher. Sammie spent her childhood growing up in and around Honey Grove, Monkstown, and Telephone, and graduated from Honey Grove High School in 1962. In the beginning of her career, Sammie was a member of the Dallas Security Force and later became a member of the Dallas County Jail staff for the Dallas Sheriff’s office, where she received countless letters of appreciation and handmade thank you cards from inmates she oversaw. She met Bruce Adams, who also spent 35 plus years of his career in the service of others, while on the job and they have spent the last 28 years together serving one another.
Sammie is survived by her husband: Bruce; her loyal companions: Stella and Maggie; her son: Barry Hawley and wife Sharon Hawley of Moore, OK; daughter: Kelly Jack and husband James Jack of Rockwall, TX; granddaughters: Marissa Jack Madding and husband Zac Madding of Hudson Falls, NY, Jessica Jack and fiancé Brandt Davis of Rowlett, TX, Nikki Brizendine of OK, Sarah and Alex Little of Terrell, TX; niece: Kathy Deener and husband Mark Deener of Plano, TX, nephew: Lanny Senter of Corsicana; and sister: Barbara Senter of Corsicana. Sammie was preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Thelma Fletcher.
A celebration of Sammie’s life will be held 1:00pm Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall location. Memorial Contributions can be made in Sammie’s name to the Rockwall Pet Adoption Center.
