Michael Lane Hughes, age 61, of Fate, TX, passed away April 4, 2022. He was born March 1, 1961, in San Antonio, TX, at the Lackland Air Force Base to Ronald Lane Hughes and Sibyl Arlene Hughes. With his father being active in the US Air Force, Michael traveled around the world and lived a very adventurous childhood. He graduated high school from Bellevue West in Bellevue, NE, and then entered the US Army where he served four years. Michael later got his associate’s degree from Devry University. He had many hobbies but the two he was most passionate about were carpentry and designing, creating, and racing model sailboats. He was an extremely hard worker and gave 100% to whatever he did, especially being a husband and father. He loved his family with every being he had, and never shied from telling anyone how proud he was of them. Michael had many accomplishments but his greatest was his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael is survived by his loving wife: Sherry Hughes; daughter: Stephanie Miller and husband Gregory; sons: Andrew Hughes and Austin Hughes; sister: Sindie Bragg; and brother: Russell Hughes. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held 10:00am Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home- Rockwall location. A celebration of life luncheon will immediately follow the service at 114 Grant Drive, Fate, TX, 75132.
