Michel R. Herndon, age 71, of Royse City, TX, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at her home on March 8, 2022. She was born September 19, 1950, in Columbus, OH, to James Carter and Ann (Perna) Carter. Michel came from a large close-knit Italian family. She grew up in a family-owned nursery environment with her parents, Ann and Richard Milano. Michel was born and raised in Columbus, OH. After moving to Texas, she met the love of her life, Nick, who became her husband for 30 years. Michel was very successful as a salon owner and hairstylist for many years. She was an event specialist for Southwest Airlines for 14 years, working on events such as openings of new hub cities across the US, and the Ronald McDonald House Charities. After retiring from Southwest Airlines, Michel worked a number of years at C2 Estate Sales in Dallas. She loved to travel and spend time with her family, especially her grandkids. Family was very important to her. Michel was happiest on the beach and in the sun. Italy and Greece were her favorite destinations. She will be deeply missed.
Michel is survived by her loving husband: Nick Herndon of Royse City, TX; children: Kelly Nabors and husband Lloyd of Heath, TX, Rich Enke of Ohio, Jina Kaiser of Dallas, TX, Tina Condit of Rockwall, TX, and Nicki Probey and husband Matt of Heath, TX; grandchildren: Mackenzie Crowell, Sam Crowell, Rachel Enke, Sarah Keith and husband Barry, Heather Endsley and husband Josiah, Samantha Enke, CJ Enke and wife Miranda, Sidney Enke, Gracie Kaiser, Henry Kaiser, Christopher Condit, Taylor Condit and husband Patrick Lewis, Alexis Harkrider, Austin Harkrider, Cam Probey, Tyler Probey and John Probey; brother: Paul Carter and wife Martha of Dallas, TX; sister-in-law: Toni Carter of Dublin, OH; and many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son: Christopher Enke; brother: Pat Carter; parents: James and Ann Carter; and her father: Richard V. Milano.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, March 14, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location with Pastor Russell Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will take place prior to the service, beginning at 12:00pm.
