The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) celebrates the start of planting
season and the beauty of Texas native and adapted plants by hosting the 2nd annual
Pledge to Plant Smart Photo Contest.
Planting season is just beginning, and NTMWD recommends planting smartly by using
native or adapted flora suited to the North Texas region. While being beautiful yearround and producing attractive landscapes, native or adapted plants are recognized for
their low maintenance and ability to significantly improve water efficiency.
NTMWD’s Pledge To Plant Smart initiative seeks to inspire positive change in water
conservation by encouraging North Texas residents to do their part and plant smart by
selecting native or adapted plants for their garden and landscaping.
Between March 1 – March 27, 2022, North Texans are encouraged to share an original
photo of their favorite native or adapted plant from their garden or a new one they’re
planting this Spring to enter to win gift cards to The Home Depot.
HOW TO ENTER:
• Snap a photo of a native or adapted Texas plant in your backyard, the wild, a park, or anywhere.
• Visit www.NTMWD.com/PlantSmart to upload your photo before March 27 and share with your
friends and family to go vote for their favorite.
• Participants are encouraged to post their images on social media with the hashtag #PledgeToPlantSmart
• The photo that receives the most online votes will win a $500 e-gift card to The Home Depot.
