Mopsy Eldredge, 86, of Rockwall, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 24, 2021, on what would have been her 64th wedding anniversary. She was born on October 26, 1935, in Sherman, Texas to Ted and Della (Martin) Harshbarger. She worked as a legal assistant in Dallas and San Antonio.
Mopsy married the love of her life, Jerry Eldredge, on December 24, 1957. They had known each other since she was three and he was six years old. She supported Jerry’s work at Luby’s Cafeterias. Jerry and Mopsy both became private pilots, and they thrilled many family members and friends by taking them up on flights. She was proud to be a member of the Ninety-Niners, the National Women’s Pilot Association. Mopsy and Jerry were members of First Baptist Church in Rockwall. They had a daughter Linda, and a son, Jerry.
Mopsy is survived by her daughter, Linda Eldredge of Austin; her son Jerry Eldredge, of Sadler; her granddaughter, Karen Jones and family of Nevada Texas; her grandson, Kevin Eldredge and family of Smithfield, Virginia; her granddaughter, Hannah Eldredge of Bryan / College Station; and her sister, Pat Eldredge of Sadler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, and her sisters, Baby Chlorine Harshbarger and Jerry Sue Parrish.
The viewing will be at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 2500 State Highway 66 East, Rockwall, Texas 75087, on Friday, January 7, 2022, from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Due to the pandemic, the Memorial Service will be postponed until a later date, when it is safe for everyone to gather together in person.
The graveside service will be at the Sadler Cemetery, 566–598 FM-901, Whitesboro, TX 75092, on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11:00 am.
