John M. Sparks, age 65, of Rockwall, TX, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born August 23, 1956, in Williamson, WV, to John James Sparks and Geraldine Pinson Sparks. He was a graduate of Marshall University and received CPA and Registered Financial Consultant accreditations throughout his professional career.

Those who knew John know he lived for his family. He was a devoted husband to Maria, a loving father to Dani and her husband Ryan, and an adoring grandfather “Popsie” to his girl Olivia. John lived a life with a sense of humor and found immense joy in playing jokes on his friends and family. He was an avid movie buff with a love for westerns, action movies, and the weekly Disney movie with his Olivia. John was a natural-born artist and liked to spend time painting and listening to music. He had a knack for words and storytelling. John was fortunate to travel the world, both in business and with his family and friends. He had a love for nature and animals, which he passed on to his daughter and granddaughter. John was many things to many people, and all would agree he was an honest man with a charismatic personality who valued integrity and sincerity. His presence will be deeply missed by many.

John is survived by his loving wife of 38 years: Maria Judith Sparks; daughter: Dani Sparks Denney and husband Ryan; granddaughter: Olivia Paige; beloved dog: Lexie and aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother James and his parents John and Gerry.

A celebration of John’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, at Reflections in the Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location. The service will be live-streamed for those who are unable to attend and can be accessed at the link below:

In place of flowers, the family asks that you donate to one of John’s favorite charities: St. Jude Children’s Hospital or The American Cancer Society.
