Betty Jean Tynes, 85, of Rockwall, Texas, departed this life on October 13, 2021. She was born to Edgar Morriss and Mattie (Covey) Morriss on April 2, 1936, in Durant, Oklahoma. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church, in Heath, Texas.
“Betty grew up on a farm out of Durant. Betty came to Dallas the day she got out of high school. She went to work for the Telephone Company. Betty liked to travel and go to other states. Betty & I were married for 65 years. In the last few years, she had a lot of medical problems and was unable to go. Betty and Billy had a good life together for 65 years.”

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Billy Joe Tynes; son: Gary Wayne Tynes and wife Cindy; grandchildren: Jerrod Tynes and wife Ashleigh, Chris Tynes and wife Meghan; great-granddaughter: Aubrey Rae Tynes; and sister, Evelyn Massey. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Mattie Morriss.
A graveside service is to be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, beginning at 1:00 PM, in Heath Cemetery, 224 Smirl Dr., Heath, Texas 75032, with Pastor Phil Alford officiating. A gathering of friends and loved ones will precede the service on Monday, October 18, 2021, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Location.
