Janis Kay Pittman, age 70, of Garland, TX, passed away on September 29, 2021. She was born December 12, 1950, in Fort Worth, TX, to Martin Edward Pittman, Jr. and Katherine June (Wray) Pittman.
Janis is survived by her siblings: Marty Pittman of Garland, TX, Marleen Edwards and husband Norman of Nashville, TN, and Maureen Bailey of West Palm Beach, FL; seven nieces and nephews: Larry Bailey and wife Christina, Andrew Bailey, Valerie Bailey, Joel Edwards and wife Erica, Josh Edwards and wife Kim, Jesse Edwards and wife Carrie, and James Edwards; and a host of numerous great-nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Janis lived a life so full and diverse it is difficult for one to imagine. In her own words, she was a “Jan of all trades”. Her autobiographical list of her jobs and serious hobbies contains 63 entries including: Hot air ballooning, Ballroom dance instructor, Bus driver, Event planner, Fencing instructor, Fragrance model, Legal secretary, Nanny, Painter, Poet, Rodeo rider, Singer, Substitute teacher and Wedding gown saleswoman. Her alphabetical list of 34 famous people she has met spans Troy Aikman to Zig Ziglar.
Janis completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of North Texas at Dallas at the age of 67. She never met a stranger and was full of words of encouragement and admonition. She will be deeply missed by her family and many hundreds of friends.
A celebration of Janis’ life will be held 1:00pm Monday, October 4, 2021, at “Reflections” at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
