Rockwall County Commissioner David Magness passed away yesterday.
The cause of death is reported to be a heart attack.
Rockwall County Commissioner David Magness represented Precinct 4, which includes the northeast quadrant of the county and encompasses Fate, Royse City and parts of Rockwall.
According to his website, Commissioner Magness was “committed to providing leadership, experience and influence to make Rockwall County the most desirable place to live and work in the metroplex. His years of community involvement as a commissioner, trustee and community leader have given him first-hand experience and opportunity in helping to build a truly great area.”
Magness led Rockwall County’s $120 million Transportation Plan and sees improvements to transportation infrastructure as the key to economic development, job creation, improved property values and a a better quality of life.
“Tremendous loss. He was a very good man, a good friend and one heck of a commissioner. True definition of a public servant,” Rockwall County Judge David Sweet said.
