Dallas-based Attorney Aaron Herbert today announced that Andrew Charles Beard, 33, of Rowlett has been arrested and charged with the murder of 24-year-old Alyssa Burkett who was shot and killed on Friday morning.
Beard turned himself into authorities Monday morning after an arrest warrant was obtained on a murder charge.
Police said she was arriving at her workplace in the 1100 block of MacArthur Drive around 9:00am when she was shot and stabbed repeatedly.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser set up by Burkett on September 4. According to Carrollton Police, Burkett and Beard had been in a “contentious” custody battle over their one-year-old daughter. She also stated that she was in fear of her life and her daughter’s life due to the lengths that her daughter’s father had gone to.
The Law Offices of Aaron Herbert had put up a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and successful prosecution of the person responsible for her death.
