Thomas “Tom” Michael Egan, age 74, and long-time resident of Rockwall, TX, passed away on August 24, 2020. He was born April 13, 1946, in Dallas, TX, to William B. Egan and Christine (Turner) Egan. Tom served his country for four years in the United States Air Force, including a tour in Vietnam. He worked as a dedicated officer for the Rockwall Police Department for 27 years. Throughout his years of service, Tom served as field training officer, firearms instructor, School Resource Officer, and Shift Sergeant. He ended his career as a Constable for Rockwall County, marking a total of 40 years as a First Responder. Tom was a true American patriot who was kind, caring, and loved to serve others. He was a Godly man who loved his family and had a strong work ethic. He has been described as loyal, accountable, reliable, and supportive from all who were blessed enough to know him. Tom loved his dogs and had a soft spot for all animals. He will be missed beyond measure.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 46 years: Frances Egan; son: Blake Egan and wife Valerie; daughters: Candace Newport and husband Tyler, and Courtney Egan; grandchildren: Kelly, Jack, Raelyn, and Hank. He was preceded in death by his twin sister: Donna Egan; and his parents.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 31, 2020, at First Baptist Church, 610 S Goliad St, Rockwall, TX 75087, officiated by Pastor Steve Swofford. An afternoon of remembrance will be held at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home in Rockwall on Sunday from 3pm-5pm. All guests attending the visitation at Rest Haven will be required to wear masks.
