James Lewis Ervin, age 71, of Rockwall, TX, passed away on September 9, 2020. He was born on January 11, 1949, in Baytown, TX, to John Ervin and Mary (Nash) Ervin. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1967. Later James attended East Texas State University where he met his best friend and love of his life, Nancy, in graduate school, where they were both working on their master’s degree in history. James adopted Nancy’s daughter, Judy, and loved her deeply as well. James and Nancy had two other children, Rebecca and Jim. When Jim was diagnosed with serious disabilities, James never wavered in his resolve to protect and care for him. When Nancy passed away in 2010, James once again rose to the occasion and became Jim’s sole caretaker for almost 10 years. James also had 2 other very special people in his life, his granddaughters, Elise and Aubrey. They brought him great joy and he was so proud of both of them. There are very few men like James. He was a loyal friend, protective big brother, strong father, and devoted husband. He loved his family dearly and they meant everything to him. His presence will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
James is survived by his daughter Rebecca Holland and husband Paul; son: Jim Ervin; granddaughters: Ruth Elise Holland and Aubrey Evelyn Tart and her husband Jesse; brothers: Tommy Ervin, Rick Ervin, and Buddy Ervin; sister, Maryam Kubasek; father: John Ervin and wife Janie; and a host of nieces and nephews.
