Eugene Joseph Girard, age 76, and long-time resident of Garland, TX, passed away on September 1, 2020. He was born in Acushnet, MA, to Eugene Joseph Girard and Socorro (Ramirez) Girard. Eugene attended catholic schools most of his life and later moved to California where he received his BA from The University of San Francisco. He married Patsy Ruth Smith Girard on May 26, 1973. They moved to Texas in 1984, where he received his Masters of Education degree from East Texas State University. Eugene established the first Spanish National Honor Society at North Garland High School. He and his Spanish students traveled to Spain. Eugene was a school teacher for 36 years. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and classical music. He was a devoted husband and father who truly cherished his family. His presence will be deeply missed.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Ruth Girard, and their daughter, Melanie Jessica Girard; three stepchildren, Vicki Batson Aliff, Pamela Batson House, and Gregory O’Neill Batson, all of Texas: three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Maria Carne of Oregon and Theresa Dickson of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Joseph Louis Girard, Sr. and Socorro Ramirez Girard.
A private inurnment will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Rockwall, TX.
