Darlene Sue Mims, age 69 of Lone Oak, TX, passed away August 27, 2020. She was born December 29, 1950, in Wichita, KS, to Hubert and Mary Ann Windholz. Darlene attended Highland Park High School in Dallas, TX and blessed many companies with her skills over the years, working for Texas Instruments, Micrometrology, Fiber Systems and ultimately residing at Sirerra Nevada Corporation, a defense contractor as a purchasing agent. She was a self-proclaimed shopaholic who mostly put those talents to work showering her family with gifts and affection. Darlene always lent a hand where she could and loved her family unconditionally especially her grandkids. Fun-loving and giggly, she made it hard for one to be unhappy. Wearing many hats and names in her life, “Mimi,” “Grammy,” “Grandma,” and others lovingly calling her “Queenie,” her impact on the lives she touched will be forever missed and cherished.
She is survived by her children: Russell Mims and wife Joie, Angela Twedell and husband Michael, Michelle Hanson, and Michael Crosby and wife Julie; her mother: Mary Ann Norman; grandchildren: Amy Sizemore and husband Forrest, Madeline Shank, Cameron Mims, Holly Zerfas and husband Jake, Jessica Cheek, Matthew Cheek and wife Mackenzie, Ashley Key and husband Brack, Charli Holt, R.T Gentry and wife Jessica, Maggie Land and Morgan Crosby; and siblings: Donna Dunham, Hubert Windholz and wife Tina, Debbie Jurcak, and Becky Hills and husband Mark; great-grandchildren: Silas Key, Karson Kent, Suzie Gentry, Jalynn Gentry, Payton Sullivan, Paige Floutin, Trenton Cheek, Preslee Cheek, Adelyn Zerfas and Cayden Alexander. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband: Farris “Poppy” Mims; and her father: Hubert Windholz.
Private services will be held at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
