Michelle (Shelly) Damea Carvan

Michelle (Shelly) Danea Carvan passed away peacefully on July 24, 2020, at the age of 51. Born in California, October 29, 1968, to Delbert and Hendrica Davidson. Shelly completed a BAS in Health Care Administration from Dallas Baptist University. She raised three children, volunteered in overseas missions and local ministries, and served as the Vice President of JDP Solutions, Inc. During a long battle against cancer, she fought the good fight with vigor, finished the adventure God laid before her, kept her vital faith, and is now rejoicing in the presence of her heavenly Father.

In life, Shelly was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Shelly cherished her. She loved to pursue diamonds in the rough, discerning the beauty in others that they couldn’t see in themselves. A counselor and mentor at heart, she listened, encouraged, unconditionally loved, and offered wise counsel without judgment. Shelly modeled Christ’s love and grace in her life, and she taught others to do the same. In her presence, she made you feel like you were the most important person in the world. Many considered her their best friend, and she was a second mom to many.

Her heart for the world spilled out as she touched lives in Kenya, South Africa, and Mexico on short-term mission trips. Locally, she mentored many young adults through Lake Pointe Church’s youth ministry, opening her home to many and her heart to those who needed to know they were cherished and loved. Later, she served the residents at Hillcrest House, a Dallas residential facility for HIV positive adults, by bringing the residents food, laughing and playing games alongside them, and befriending many. More recently, she partnered with Bonton Farms and Café Momentum, where she mentored at-risk youth.

An idealist with a knack for creating beautiful experiences, Shelly had the gift of casting a vision for an irresistible event while connecting and recruiting others to join in. Even as she inaugurated gatherings, she mostly enjoyed serving behind the scenes. Shelly loved traveling the world, engaging in the arts, devouring a good book, and sharing laughter with many over a delicious meal.

Her greatest passion? Loving, serving, praying for, encouraging, speaking life into others, and appreciating her three unique children. They were her highest priority, and she had the privilege of meeting their fiancés and spouses. Shelly wholeheartedly cherished being a grandmother to Samuel.

Shelly is survived by her children Trey Carvan and his wife, Emily of Rockwall, TX, Taylor Griner, and her husband, Chris of Garland, TX, and Tanner Carvan and his fiancé Kelsey Lynch of Austin, TX, her grandson, Samuel Griner of Garland, TX, her mother, Hendrica Davidson of Cleburne, TX, her siblings, Erica Joyce and her husband, Jim of Royse City, TX, Jennifer Piercy and her husband, Duane of Rockwall, TX, and Stephanie Rush and her husband, Jeff of Cleburne, TX, her nieces and nephews, Nathan, Anthony, and Nelson Piercy, and Avery and Zayn Rush. Shelly is preceded in death by her father, Delbert Joe Davidson.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020, at 2 pm at Lake Pointe Church’s White Rock Campus at 9150 Garland Road, Dallas, TX 75218. Social distancing will be encouraged in the large sanctuary, and facemasks are recommended.
