One dead after garbage truck hits stranded vehicle along I-30 in Dallas overnight

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatality accident that occurred late Tuesday night along Interstate 30 in west Dallas.

Dallas Fire-Rescue and DSO deputies were called to the scene just after 10:30PM last night in the westbound lanes of Interstate 30 near Westmoreland Road.

Officials say a vehicle was stopped in a main lane of travel when it was struck by a garbage truck. The stopped vehicle did not have any lights on.

CPR was initiated on one person who was critically injured. The individual was pronounced deceased by paramedics a short time later.

Lanes were blocked throughout the early morning hours, but have since been reopened.

The accident remains under investigation.
