Zelma C. McNee, age 99, and lifetime resident of Mesquite, TX, passed away on May 5, 2020. She was born November 11, 1920, in Mesquite, TX, to Waco Crane and Pearl (Patterson) Crane. Zelma was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockwall. She was an All-Star basketball player for Mesquite High School and the Dallas Hornets Independent League in 1941. Zelma married her husband, James McNee in 1977. She was a devoted Christian woman. Her presence will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her.
Zelma is survived by her grandchildren: James Rice and wife Candace, James Douglas McNee, Nancy McNee Newell, Julie Newkirk Rusk, Judy Newkirk, and Melissa Potts; great-grandson: Dylan Rice; great-nieces: Kimberly Ann Hodges and husband Blaine, and Kristy Foster and husband Weldon; and a host of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Peter James McNee.
A private graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
