The student council at Cain Middle School was recently honored as Outstanding Student Council and Sweepstakes Council, the highest honor a TASC council can achieve, by Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC).
The awards are based on documentation of student council organization, specific project areas, participation in TASC programs, and an evaluation by administrators.
Their achievement serves as a benchmark for what a well-rounded student council in Texas should do to be effective.
Sweepstakes councils must first earn recognition as an Outstanding Student Council based on documentation of student council organization, specific project areas, participation in TASC programs, and an evaluation by an administrator.
In addition, Sweepstakes Councils must earn recognition in the areas of Pride and Patriotism, Energy and Environment, and Drugs, Alcohol, Safety and Health.
Finally, Sweepstakes councils must submit their accomplishments in School and Community Service. It takes passion, dedication, purpose, planning, and hard work to achieve this. Only exceptional councils earn this honor.
