Sofia Pecina Obituary

Sofia (Silva) Pecina, age 87, and resident of Royse City, TX, for 74 years, passed away March 15, 2020. She was born September 30, 1932, in Rosebud, TX, to Ponsiano Silva and Sarah (Ramon) Silva. Sofia came from strong Catholic roots, and was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. She had a great sense of humor, was patient, and creative. She had a zest for life, and enjoyed music, dancing, sewing, and dressing Barbie dolls. Sofia loved her children and was pleased to feed everybody. She will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her.

Sofia is survived by daughters: Rosa Stovall, Maria Luz Pecina, Lisa Acosta and husband Armando, and Juanita Goodman and husband Raymond Larry Jr.; sons: Joe Pecina and wife Lorethia Ann, Roque Pecina Jr. and wife Latresa, and Johnnie Pecina and wife Regina; grandchildren: Chris Pecina, Adam Pecina and wife Kait, Scott Pecina, Devin Pecina, Pilar Gamez, Charlton Stovall and wife Kim, Mia Cecil and husband Pat, Maria Hale and husband Randy, Michael Pecina, Meredith Pecina and husband Nathan, Keri Crawford, Olivia Sampson, Joni Pecina, Marla Pecina, Diego Acosta, Alfredo Acosta, George Chapin Jr. and wife Terri, and Ethan Kordek; sisters: Reyna, Mariquea, and Estella; brothers: Estevan and Benito; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Roque Pecina; son: Manuel Pecina; father in-law: Pedro Pecina; mother in-law: Maria Luz; and aunt: Juanita Reyes.

Due to CDC mandate, only immediate family will be gathering Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Rest Haven Funeral Home- Royse City, TX. Interment will be at Royse City Cemetery, Royse City, TX. A celebration of Sofia’s life for family and friends will be held at a later date. A registry book will be available at Rest Haven Funeral Home, Royse City, TX, for anyone who would like to stop by and sign.
