Marvin James Dennis, age 88 of Rockwall, TX, went to be with the Lord March 23, 2020. He was born January 3, 1932, in Omaha, NE, to Marvin Edward Dennis and Jenny Marie (Peterson) Dennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Ruth Ann Dennis, April 16, 2002; son: Michael Jay Dennis; and brother-in-law: Gary Sediel.
Marvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines, participating in the Korean Conflict. He continued serving his country in the aerospace industry, working on the Apollo spacecraft as well as the Titan and Minuteman missiles. In his free time, he was an avid card player and sportsman and loved to water ski, race boats and just be in the outdoors. He also loved to bowl and was #1 in his league.
Most importantly, Marvin was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Ruth, until her passing, and a loving “world’s best” father and grandfather. He never met a stranger, was fun-loving and loved people. After his wife passed away, he enjoyed being with his companion, Diana Custer, for the past eight years.
Marvin is survived by his son: Patrick Dennis and wife Sharron; daughters: Cheryl Schaller and husband Ron, and Shelly Bland and husband Boux; daughter-in-law: Nancy Dennis; and Jimmy Meng; grandchildren: Christopher Schaller and wife Liz, Brandon Schaller, Paul Dennis and Amanda Sandy and husband Caleb; stepgrandchildren: Abby Bland and Zachary Bland; companion: Diana Custer; brother: Michael Dennis and wife Martha; sisters: Marlene Seidel, Marcia Lickei and husband Albert, and Margie Weidlich and husband Robert; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and good friends.
A private gathering will be held 10:00am Friday, March 27, 2020, at The Gathering at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Location.
