Marion Gilbert Lanier Jr., age 73, of Rockwall, TX, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2020, surrounded by his beloved family.
Gilbert was born July 6, 1946, in Dallas, TX, to Marion Gilbert Lanier Sr. and Rosa P. Lanier of Rockwall County. He is survived by his son: Richard E. Lanier of Quinlan, TX; daughter: Shawn Lanier Gessford of Winnsboro, TX; brothers: Terry Lee Lanier of Blue Ridge, TX, and Jeremy Robert Lanier & wife Ashley of Rockwall.
Gilbert was a renowned carpenter with over 50 years’ experience who was part owner of Lanier Construction. During this time, he took Lanier Construction to a whole new level, traveling all over the United States making his impact on his trade. He mastered his skills when he was fifteen years old, following in Marion Gilbert Lanier Senior’s footsteps. His passion and love for carpentry could be felt all throughout the years of his life. Gilbert continued his love for carpentry through teaching others his trade.
Throughout Gilbert’s life one of the many things he enjoyed was fishing with his friends and family. If he wasn’t working, he could be found on the lake fishing.
Gilbert was a Christian who was a part of the Free Methodist Church. His faith in the Lord kept him encouraged.
A celebration of Gilbert’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
