Chello Meza was born on September 24, 1948, to the late Pascual and Aniceta Melendez in Munson, Texas, and passed on to be with the Lord on November 6, 2019. She was an attending member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Rockwall and had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Chello attended Mart ISD for her early childhood years and later moved with her family back to Royse City, Texas, where she was involved in baton twirling as a majorette and was also nominated as homecoming queen. Even though she attended school up to the 11th grade, her class of 1968 always involved her in all activities throughout the years.
Chello worked for Universal Transformer Company in Wylie, Texas for over 25 years, at Rockwall ISD in the nutrition department, at the Walmart Super Center in Rockwall, Texas, cleaned houses on the weekends, and hand-pressed clothes for customers, but despite her hectic schedule, she always had time for her friends and family who were her great passion and delight. She loved to shop, play Bingo, go to the Choctaw Casino, and watch football games with her family. She loved to listen to old country and western music – especially when she cleaned.
She was married to Johnny Garcia from October 21, 1966, to 1993, and had four children, Sam Garcia, Frank Garcia, Richie Garcia. and Gina Hernandez. A year after her divorce, in 1994, Chello met Carlos Meza and his daughter, Carla, and married him on February 7, 1999. Carlos, a truck driver for over 40 years, knew the United States very well and became Chello’s personal tour guide taking her anywhere she wanted to go from the beaches to Nashville to see Graceland, and to anywhere that Chello desired. Carlos and Chello had a great love for each other and were inseparable. When Chello became ill, Carlos stayed by her side and provided around the clock care for her for many months until she passed. Chello treasured the many hours spent with her children and many grandchildren and she was loved by her family as well as by many friends who knew her for her broad smile, always-happy attitude, and contagious personality. She will be dearly remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband: Carlos Meza; her children: Sam Garcia and his wife Elizabeth, Frank Garcia, Richie Garica and his wife Kristen, and Gina Hernandez and her husband James; along with her grandchildren: Samuel Chase Garcia and wife Alyssa Kendall, Chelsea Nicole Garcia, Denton Garcia and wife Ashley, Parker Garcia, Chaney Raven Garcia, Gabrielle Hernandez, Alicya Hernandez, Dillon Ansley, Landry McKnight, Ashlee Garcia, Hudson Garcia, and Mia Hernandez; great-grandchildren: Levi Garza, Bronx Garcia, Brooklyn Garcia, Aiden Garcia, and Anniston Garcia; sisters: JoAnn Munoz, Paula Gonzales, Eloise Flores, and Gloria Melendez; and brothers: Frankie Melendez, Richard Melendez, and Tony Melendez.
