From Rockwall ISD:
We are grateful for your patience these last few days. We know that during this period without the internet and phones, families have made adjustments. We appreciate your support during this inconvenience.
To give you a brief synopsis of what has transpired, our network specialists noticed irregularities in our system on Wednesday morning that alerted them to shut down the network immediately. Since that time, our network specialists and outside consultants have determined our system was impacted briefly by ransomware known as RYUK. After an external professional company conducted a systems analysis, we know that ransomware most likely entered our system through a malicious link in an email.
Our Technology Department has been hard at work around the clock since last Wednesday. Our phone systems are now operational. Over the course of this week, our Technology Department will work to open our backup systems, like Skyward, in a systematic sequence. We anticipate most systems to be functional this week. Please know we have no evidence that any student or staff information was compromised.
We appreciate our Technology Department staff who have worked tirelessly to restore our system as quickly and safely as possible. We also thank our teachers and staff who continued professionally serving students during this time of inconvenience.
